I’ve been designing schools and libraries since 2005. As a person who is inherently fascinated with space and behavior it was only natural that I would be drawn to the design of learning environments. In 2015 I was contracted by Perkins & Will to conduct the programming and space planning for Billerica Memorial High School in Billerica, MA. At the time, this was the largest school building in the state of Massachusetts. Additionally, Hynes Design Studio created the original template for budgeting the $2.5 million in furnishings. The state of Massachusetts now uses this template as an example for other firms to reference. This project has gone on to win numerous design awards for Perkins & Will and it was a pleasure to work with their Boston studio.
In 2018 I was contracted by Tappe Architects in Boston as the lead interior designer on the Tufts Library in Weymouth, MA. As challenging as it was to continue design work through the pandemic, this labor of love finally opened in fall of 2020.
